Casale Marittimo – Nearby Villages
Casale Marittimo extends south of the river Cecina on a hill inland called Poggio al Pruno and dominates a vast panorama of the Tyrrhenian coast.
It is the ideal place for lovers of a calmer and more relaxed lifestyle.
The sea, the pine forests and the beaches are only about ten kilometers away and the islands of the Tuscan archipelago are clearly visible: Elba, Capraia and Gorgona.
Around the village, and between this and the sea, there is a richly worked countryside that produces cereals, oil, honey and a fine wine, the DOC Montescudaio.
The historical center of medieval origin, having remained almost intact until today, denounces elements of considerable architectural interest. The remains of the walls remain of the castle, an ancient garrison to defend the coast and the valley.
We suggest a walk through the narrow lanes of the village with old stone buildings and a wine tasting in one of the wine bars of the main Piazzetta.
This ancient village, at 214 meters above sea level, inserted in the green of the Pisan hills, offers the possibility of walking, riding, cycling and in contact with nature.
