Querceto – Nearby Villages
The village of Querceto is immersed in the woods of the territory of Montecatini Val di Cecina, and dominates the whole valley from the hill on which it is perched.
The history of this medieval corner of Tuscany is ancient, and starts from the thirteenth century: the importance of the village derived from the military support that could guarantee and from the resources offered by the surroundings, including metals such as silver, mercury and copper. For centuries, the castle around which Querceto developed was owned by noble families, up to that of the Counts Ginori-Lisci.
The Ginori Castle of Querceto is an ancient fortified village near Volterra on the slopes of Mount Aneo, in the middle of the extensive homonymous farm.
You can visit the small village, taste the excellent wine of the Marquis Ginori Lisci or stop to eat at the “Locanda del Sole”, a restaurant that since 2015 has been managed by the starred Chef Luciano Zazzeri and who, together with the two young chefs, here it mainly offers game dishes.
Today the village offers visitors an exceptional landscape interest due to its splendid position in the middle of an uncontaminated territory.
